Uncertainty . . .

June 8, 2022

Odd title right? It stems from the fact that we don’t know if my car will ever get fixed from the accident last August. Parts have been on order since October and Ford says they’re waiting for a chip for the airbags and have no idea when, or even if, they will receive it. As we know, there has been a chip shortage for quite some time now. They won’t touch the car until they have every ordered part in hand. Thankfully the car is drivable but without airbags and with modified seatbelts. Not the best scenario but do we have a choice? After we lost Rex we thought we’d sell the car and get something smaller as we have no plans to get another big dog. But, until it’s fixed we can’t do that. So . . . we wait . . . with uncertainty.

Well, there are other things happening around here. For example, I wrote in my post on December 28 that we were thinking about selling the motorhome and getting a 5th wheel. Well, we did get a great deal on a 5th wheel and, as I write this, we’re trying to sell the motorhome.

We had also purchased a 3rd lot to use as a rental because it was a great deal. We started out thinking we would rent it with the 5th wheel. However, after 30 years in property management my gut told me not to rent out the 5th wheel. Larry agreed and we moved it to our lot to live in. We also chose to sell the other lot and it is currently in escrow.

I love our 5th wheel! It’s very different from the motorhome. There’s less basement storage but more storage inside, which makes a big difference. There’s a lack of counter space in the kitchen but we’re dealing with that. We have a bigger bathroom and bigger shower with a seat! Woohoo!!! Here are some pics:

Sweet huh?

We’ve also decided to move to another lot. What? Why? Oh no, here we go again! It wasn’t an easy decision because we LOVE our beautiful lot but it is very large, with lots of trees that are very messy and the outdoor kitchen area isn’t really adequate for what we want. In addition, the kitchen and seating areas have no enclosures which make them pretty unusable during weather events or extreme cold. We had looked at a number of other lots and ended up putting an offer on one across the lake and it was was accepted so we’re in escrow on that one as well. This is a much smaller lot so we’ll have to what? DOWNSIZE … again! However, it will be a lot less work to keep up which means more PLAY TIME for us! It also has a fantastic kitchen and outstanding view!!!!

We’re still keeping an eye on real estate with the hopes of getting a “summer home” in a cooler area. We’ll see how that goes. The prices still need to come down some.

So, we’ll see how we do this Summer here at the Ranch. The lot we’ll be leaving has natural air conditioning (wind) on the upper patio. We won’t get the same at the lot we’re moving to (mid-July). Time to buy a swamp cooler!!
