There are a number of producing olive trees on our lot and what we have learned about them is that THEY ARE MESSY!!! One of the trees was in a big planter in the middle of the lot.

This one was twice as big before this pic was taken. Although beautiful, they were dropping olives all over the furniture and leaving stains so we trimmed them way back and decided to remove the one in the middle. That was quite an intensive project.
First we had to cut it down to the root ball and dig around it so we could cut the roots.

Then we put a strap around it, backed Larry’s Explorer in and connected the strap to it.

We finally got it over the edge of the planter, without breaking the planter itself, thankfully!

Then he hauled it out to the curb where the maintenance people had to use a tractor to haul it away!

WHEW!!! That was one BIG root ball.
And here is what we did with that planter. As those geraniums grow and fill out I think it will be quite beautiful. As of this writing they had doubled in size ;-D.

After that was all done Larry and Max decided to take a break. Max only supervised but he was tired out anyway LOL.

So, what do tree stumps and tacos have in common? Larry! His birthday is Cinco de Mayo and the restaurant here (Missy’s 15th Hole Bar & Grill) had a taco bar that day, so of course we had to go. We were joined by some friends including one of Max’s friends, Allie. She’s the cute white Golden Retriever.

She enjoyed the get together very much especially because she and Max, who is under the table, even got a few taco tidbits. Woof Woof!
Happy Birthday my love :-*
