Pahrump

May 11, 2021

The road to Pahrump is long, through Death Valley, which, as I said before, is a strange and amazing place. It cut off over an hour going this way and the traffic was WAY less. Much more relaxing.

We stopped here to visit Lisa and Rick (sister and B-i-L) and their dog Pooh Bear who is a Pit/Boxer mix. What a sweet boy. He has his very own couch!

It was warm, dry and windy, and kind of what you would expect in a high desert town. Although the desert is not my favorite place, I have a deep respect for it. It amazes me that there is an entire ecosystem thriving in that formidable environment. The boys didn’t seem to be crazy about it either when they went out to do their business. Thankfully we didn’t run into any snakes.

Both Friday and Saturday night we sat out on the front porch hoping to see the wild burros that frequent the area. They apparently showed up at 1:30 a.m. and we never even heard them. While sitting there we saw a couple of spiders. One was a Scorpion Spider and the other was a little tiny one busy making his web on a very prickly cactus. Seemed a bit precarious to me but, to each his own ;-D

The boys were really wanting to see the burros too!

To be continued . . .
