Friends, Food and Fans

June 21, 2022

With several of Max’s friends away right now, he’s happy that little Maddie, the Coton de Tulear (from Madagascar), is still here.

Is she cute or what?? We often pass by her lot on our morning walk and, if she’s out, we go up to the fence and they get very excited to see each other. Maddie even gets up on her hind legs and spins around! It’s so cute I can’t stand it. Her mom and dad, Hope and Jerry, come out and chat with us and give her and Max a treat. They’re such nice people. There are so many nice people here at the Ranch. We’ve made quite a few new friends. RVers are a great bunch!

Some other types of friends around here are the Fauna, such as:

Egrets. We don’t see them often but, when we do, it’s quite a show. We saw this trio coming in to land. What beauty and grace!

Great Tailed Grackles (love these). They make the neatest sounds and they can make their tails turn vertical which looks awesome when they fly.

Turtles. We find these all over the Ranch. Often people pick them up off the road and take them back down to the water. Larry has done that twice. They’re looking for places to lay their eggs. One laid eggs in a friends yard the other day!

And, of course, the ducks. These quackers apparently are fishing for some lunch. LOL

We also have coyotes, bobcats and cougars lurking around. We’ve only seen a coyote once but we’ve heard them numerous times. Others have gotten pictures of them, as well as a bobcat. There have also been several reports of rattlesnakes so we’re careful not to go into the rough areas where they might hang out.

In previous posts I’ve mentioned new foods we’ve tried and created. Well, we recently had some homemade nachos that were delicious so I got the idea to make some for breakfast using eggs and sausage. They turned out really good! A cool new twist on a breakfast burrito!

It sure is fun trying new things. Larry made his famous Blueberry Pancake Bake again the other day. MMM MMM MMM!! Yummers!

Since it’s been so dang hot we invested in an oscillating “evaporative cooler” which is basically a fan that you add ice water to and it shoots out cold air. It’s like a swamp cooler but for indoors. Anyway, the one we got works fantastic!!! It doesn’t take up much space in our little RV and it’s not bad looking either. What a great investment from Home Depot!

So at least we won’t be totally miserable this Summer. Praying for a mild one this year!!!!
