Deadwood – The RV Park

July 29, 2021

We eventually made it to the Black Hills, which I’ve wanted to see forever and because Mt. Rushmore was on our bucket list. We decided to stay in Deadwood because, in the heatwave, it was predicted to have the lowest temps in the area. We were able to get a space at the Days of 76 Campground. The campground itself wasn’t great but the price was right and there was a really cool museum there, along with the rodeo grounds right next door, which was a great place to walk the boys. There was also a river running just below the campground.

This is the entrance to the RV Park (from inside). Check out those huge log posts!

This is the office. Cute huh?

There weren’t too many RVs when we arrived. There was one tree in the actual parking area and we got it, thankfully so, because the heatwave was starting so the little bit of shade was helpful.

As it got closer to July 4th, the place filled up and we were packed in like sardines. It was crazy! Didn’t get a picture of that but here are the rodeo grounds.

And the river.

We had a thunderstorm one day and this was the result. Aren’t rainbows extraordinary??

Check back to see more of Deadwood, the City.

To be continued . . .
