While staying in St. Regis we took a day trip. Along the I-90 we crossed the border into Idaho where there were lots of little towns, most of which you would miss if you blinked. We somehow ended up on a funky road that took us through Burke (part of Wallace), which is an old historical mining town with a tragic history. Surprisingly, there are people still living here amongst the ruins of the town. You can read the signs to learn what happened and why Burke is all but a ghost town.
We were shocked by the condition of the town. Sad and interesting.
