Anaconda – Not a Snake

Our next boon docking site in Montana was the Anaconda City Park. Not sure why it’s named after a snake but the park was lovely with a beautiful rushing creek running along right beside us. We were the only overnighters there but there were others coming and going, such as teenagers doing whatever they do in the park, birdwatchers or other visitors (see 3rd pic).

Anaconda is a very old historical mining town with run down but interesting buildings. This is the city government building.

This is an apartment building which is actually for sale. Looks like it could’ve been a school it a past life. Any takers? LOL

Anaconda “proper” is pretty run down too but colorful. Some parts reminded me of Tijuana. The deer didn’t mind. They were everywhere and went from house to house to graze in the yards.

Outside of town the scenery was beautiful and, despite being old and run down, the “feel” in this area was invigorating. Even Max perked up here. Maybe it’s all the trees and the oxygen rich fresh air. After all we were at 5,276 feet!

We decided to have lunch at the Classic Cafe, a local classic car themed restaurant. The people were friendly, the food decent, and the decor was really fun! I asked and our server confirmed that it used to be a mechanic’s garage. Very clever! ๐Ÿ˜€

It was pretty cold in Anaconda. Our second night we had a snow storm and woke up to a “winter wonderland”. These pics don’t do it justice. It was absolutely stunning, like a Christmas Card! Max however wasn’t impressed with the cold air or the snow on his feet!

We were going to stay another night but the weather report said it would get down to 25 that night so we decided to pull up stakes and head to someplace warmer. Farewell Anaconda!

To be continued . . .
