Seeley Lake – A Watersport Mecca

June 28, 2021

Seeley Lake, Montana is a gem! We were so lucky to find a spot at Big Larch Campground. We wondered about the name too and learned that the trees here are European Larch . . . beautiful trees!

When we entered the campground we were greeted by this beauty.

We arrived on a Wednesday and there weren’t too many people there but, boy did that change come Thursday when folks just started pouring in!!! LOTS of boats, mostly fishers, but also party boats, water-skiers and kayakers dotted the lake. We could understand why. Seeley Lake is gorgeous and the weather was really nice! We decided to stay a week.

You might be wondering where all the boaters are. These pics were taken early in the morning before they all came. It was nice and peaceful and, a couple of mornings while on my walk, I was greeted again by the deer. Not sure if it was the same one or not.

We found a great little trail that led through the forest and right down to the lake so we took the boys for a nice long walk every morning. They loved it.

Rex found the lake peaceful and calming . . .

Max just wanted to go back and waited by the trail. He’s not a big water fan.

We had another visitor who came and hung out at our campsite. Although she was afraid of the boys, she went right up to Larry a couple of times so we thought she must be domesticated. What a beautiful bunny. Larry wanted to adopt her. I thought we already have enough animals in a small space. We didn’t adopt her.

The camp host told us that they don’t have rabbits there so she must’ve been a pet who escaped. I threw carrots and cucumbers out for her. She chowed down on the carrots but left the cucumbers. I hope she survives out there.

One day we drove into the town, which was really cute but sooo busy. It had some interesting shops and eating places. It was lunchtime and we had the boys with us so we decided to go to an outdoor place that was pretty much a food truck in a park setting.

So we moved one of the tables into a shady spot and enjoyed a nice burger. It had a nice view of the lake too!

We stopped in at the Grizzly Claw Trading Company and found the most amazing handmade wares! I forgot to take a pic but what a wonderful store this was! If you ever find yourself in Seeley Lake you MUST go into this store. They had some funny greeting cards and I had to take a pic of this one.

HAHAHA!!

On our last day here I went for my walk and it was an exceptionally beautiful morning.

I’m gonna miss this place . . .

To be continued . . .
