Polson and the Miracle of America

August 8, 2021

Polson is a town on the southern shore of Flathead Lake, which is gorgeous by the way. We found while driving there that the area is the cherry capital of Montana. There were cherry farms and cherry stands everywhere! Our host in Kalispell had given us a bowl of fresh cherries (from his wife) and they were oh so good!

We boondocked for one night in a field area of a lady’s property.

The next morning I got up early and took a long walk. I passed a huge cattle ranch and I have to say that I’ve never seen so many cows in one place before.

There were a lot of baby cows. These two seemed quite interested in this human walking by.

We had seen this Miracle of America Museum on our way into Polson and decided we would visit it before we left. We packed up and drove to the museum, parking the rig in a nearby lot.

It was the most crazy and amazing place, this museum. There was so much to see, from old vehicles, tractors, military equipment, old-time appliances, old business buildings and even UFOs and an “alien autopsy” exhibit, to mention a few. And that was just outside.

Inside was so packed full of stuff I can’t even begin to mention it all, as the below pic of one small section shows.

I found this hair accessory to be especially disturbing! WOW!

This dog sign cracked me up.

There was a section with wise quotes.

And another with religious quotes and jokes LOL.

We spent a couple of hours there and didn’t see everything. There is an old-fashioned soda fountain where we got an ice cream to cool down before we left. There was also a three person band providing live entertainment. It was just a crazy and engaging place.

If you ever go there, you should allow several hours or, better yet, make a day of it and take a lunch break in the soda fountain! You’ll be amazed y this place!

To be continued . . .
