I know I’ve been MIA for a long time. Did you miss me? It’s OK if you didn’t. I know how busy life is and reading the blog of a silly woman on a crazy trip can’t be a priority. HA!
After we left Foster (which I’ve since learned is not a city/town, but a community within the town of Sweet Home, Oregon), where we stayed 17 nights, we went on to the town of Glide. We had a reservation to boondock for 3 nights on a private ranch. It was a really nice area and our hosts were welcoming and very nice!

We ended up staying only 2 nights because smoke from the fires was closing in and the air quality was not good. So, we said our goodbyes and headed on toward the coast.
We ended up staying at Sturdivant Park in the town of Coquille for a couple of nights. It was a nice place with plenty of places to walk the boys, but busy with traffic in and out all the time. We were able to get a spot by a big tree which helped shade us from the afternoon sun. Although we weren’t to the ocean yet, it was so nice to feel the coastal breeze!

There was an exhibit sign with some interesting information about the Sitka Spruce Tree and the important role it played during WWI.

While there, we took an interesting hike along an old abandoned railroad track.

And . . . we had a gorgeous sunset!

After leaving Coquille we had plans to stay the next night at a State Park in Brookings, which is the last town before crossing into California. The coastline was gorgeous, especially since we hadn’t seen the ocean for a really long time!

When we reached the park, although beautiful, it could not accommodate our rig so they referred us to the Alfred A. Loeb State Park, also in Brookings.

It was a bit out of the way but, since it was getting late in the day, we decided we should try. We finally found it and, HOORAY, they had a spot for us for one night. The next morning, before we left, we took a really cool hike through the forest by a lake.
