So we took a chance at this campground and were lucky to find a spot for two nights. Pretty huh?

And what a beautiful lake! We saw it from a distance when we were in this area before but being basically right down at the lake is different, but gorgeous from both perspectives!

It was nice and cool early in the morning so the first day I went out for a walk. I went up the road and guess what I came across . . .

Isn’t she beautiful? I’m sensing a pattern here. What do you think? I always feel special when I encounter a deer because deer are very special to me, so it was a real treat :-).

The lake was sooo beautiful in the morning.

It was popular for kayakers, fishers and even some swimmers. It was so tempting. The weather was great, with beautiful clouds and even a thunderstorm!

The campground was a very popular place for prairie dogs too! Some of the dogs were going nuts because these little critters kept popping up all over. I’m sure they were doing it just to tease the dogs, right? 😉

The second morning I went out for another walk and guess what I saw. If you said the deer you’re right! This time I encountered her on the road. I’m thinking it’s the same one.

She stayed there while I approached but then calmly headed down the embankment. She didn’t seem afraid of me, just cautious. 

But when she was just below me she stopped and we just looked at each other as I spoke to her. She actually seemed interested in what I was saying. 😀

I finally continued on. It was a beautiful morning and I decided to go farther this time. After I turned back I saw a deer (same one?) on the hillside across the road. As I was trying to get another pic I completely missed the turn for the campground and walked on by.

What a dork! I ended up going quite a way past the turn when I realized nothing was familiar so I turned back and eventually saw a sign for the campground. 1/2 mile ahead it said. I was glad it was cool since I was getting pretty warm in my sweatshirt, and my feet were starting to hurt. I eventually made it back and had a story and some great pics to share with Larry!

After taking the boys for a nice walk we packed up and hit the road again.
