Farragut State Park – Oh, the History!

June 6, 2021

This State park was amazing! It sits on the shores of beautiful Lake Pend Orielle (pronounced “ponderay”) and used to be a Naval training facility during WWII. You can read a brief history here:

It’s well worth it to read about the history, especially if you’re interested in military history.

Named after this fellow . . .

In case you’re not familiar with what a “Brig” is . . .

The museum was full of authentic memorabilia and historical information from that time.

Here’s a peek . . .

But there was sooo much more. If you’re ever in the area, it’s definitely worth the visit, and it’s free!

After the museum we found a hike along part of the Lake.

It was absolutely STUNNING! The pictures do not do it justice. The boys found the smells pretty amazing too 😉

I’m so glad we did this! Another beautiful day.  I’m loving retirement!

To be continued . . .
