Farragut State Park – Oh, the History!

This State park was amazing! It sits on the shores of beautiful Lake Pend Orielle (pronounced “ponderay”) and used to be a Naval training facility during WWII. You can read some history about it here.

It’s well worth it to read about the history, especially if you’re interested in military history.

Named after this fellow . . .

In case you’re not familiar with what a “Brig” is . . .

The museum was full of authentic memorabilia and historical information from that time.

Here’s a peek . . .

But there was sooo much more. If you’re ever in the area, it’s definitely worth the visit, and it’s free!

After the museum we found a hike along part of the Lake.

It was absolutely STUNNING! The pictures do not do it justice. The boys found the smells pretty amazing too ๐Ÿ˜‰

I’m so glad we did this! Another beautiful day.  I’m loving retirement!
