Athol, Idaho

June 4, 2021

We too had trouble knowing how to pronounce Athol! Turns out it’s like Ethel (name) or Ethyl (alcohol) but with the A pronounced like in Athens. The accent is on the A. But, enough of the English lesson ;-D

We couldn’t find a USFS campground or other free boondocking place in this area that could accommodate our coach. So we turned to Boondockers Welcome and found a host in Athol, which is how we ended up here. Our hosts, Bill and Cathy (and sweet senior Black Lab, Kahlua) have been RV’ers for a while and moved to Athol from California’s Central Valley several years ago.

Originally we were going to stay just one night (5/25) because that’s all that was available. They had an RV trip planned and were supposed to leave on the 26th but their motorhome ended up in the shop and they had to cancel their trip. Bummer! But, fortunately for us, they offered to let us stay through Memorial Day weekend knowing that every place would be full and it would be difficult for us to find a spot. We were very grateful and accepted their offer. We would use the ranch as a base and do our day trips.

We got a kick out of some of the signs Bill had up around the property. LOL!!!!

One thing I really noticed while there was the amazing sky! It seemed to go on forever and the big fluffy clouds were spectacular!

The sunset and moon were pretty cool too!

And . . . I was so excited to see some Llamas!!!!!!!. They were down the street.

Doesn’t the brown one look like it’s saying “Whatchu looking at??!!! HAHAHA! Love them!

To be continued . . .
