While in Blaine we made an appointment with a realtor in the area to look at a funky little place. What we didn’t know about it ahead of time is that it is in what’s called Paradise Lakes Country Club which is a rustic deep woods RV resort between Sumas and Maple Falls (WA). Here, like our winter lot in Aguanga (CA, near Temecula) you own the lot and can build it out to suit you. Well, the specific lot we looked at was a definite NO but we looked at some other lots and found one we love and are currently in escrow on it. The “Club” is zoned recreational so you can only live there 120 days out of the year. This is a perfect short term summer solution for us since we want to be in cooler temps during the months of July – September. During this extreme heat wave it only got up to 85 where this lot is. EHAW!!! Amenities at the Club include an indoor pool, clubhouse with billiards, ping pong (yay!) and other games. Plus, it’s all gated and a great place to walk the boys.

The lot was apparently under construction when the Canadian border was closed due to Covid. Apparently many of the lots, including this one, are owned by Canadians and they haven’t been able to come down to do maintenance. That’s why it looks unfinished and overgrown. We have big plans to upgrade and turn it into our little summer paradise while we wait for real estate prices to come down.

Another great amenity is that, just down the road from the Club is Silver Lake which, as you can see, is gorgeous. There is also a park and at least three campgrounds. We took the boys to one for a walk and it was absolutely beautiful!

At the lake you can rent paddle boats, canoes or row boats. Can you say FUN??
